10/03/2006 - Martin's Update
Dear Friends and Family,
Greetings from cold Sevlievo. We have already had some snow, but I still like it here very much! It actually snowed in Clarion a few days before it snowed here.
Things are going well here. I had a bit of a set-back with my foot. I ended up in the emergency room on Saturday night after my teacher's seminar.
Praise God nothing was broken, but I have had to stay off my foot through Wednesday. Now it seems that all is well. I kept trying to walk to off, but apparently that is not what was needed. Now I am walking limp free, and feeling quite well.
I am sending you this quick update to let you know that I will not be able to make it home for the holidays. I had hoped to make it home by Thanksgiving or at least Christmas, but after talking to my lawyer today I see that this will not be possible.
The first thing that I must do is change my legal address. I thought that this would be a simple thing, but apparently not. It will take about a month since I am changing oblasts (states). After I change my address and national ID card, then the other things will be able to be done. My new visa (and ID card) will have to be renewed by the middle of April, which means that the things must be filed around the beginning of March. So now my new date to return home will be March 1, maybe sooner. If I get the other things filed and through the courts, which should not be a problem once I change my registered address, I should be able to return home.
I am a little disappointed to say the least. I was looking forward to seeing my family again. I haven't seen them since last Thanksgiving, but I will be happy to see them when I see them. Pray that all goes well. I will really appreciate it.
Be blessed in Jesus' Name,
Marty
