Statement Of Faith Of Obedient Life
Ministries, Inc. Obedient Life Ministries, Inc. believes in the whole Bible, Old and New Testament, rightly divided, and the New Testament is the only rule of order for the church. (Acts 15:1-35) We hold that no other written record is its equal in truth or divine inspiration. We believe it is inspired by God, and that it alone is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16) 1. We believe in the verbal plenary inspiration of the Bible, that it was written by holy men of God moved upon by the Holy Spirit who spoke from God, and not by their own interpretation. (2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Timothy 3:16) 2. We believe in one eternally existent, infinite God, the sovereign Creator and Sustainer of all things, perfectly holy in nature, attributes, and purpose; and that He has revealed Himself to man as Father in creation, Son in redemption and Holy Spirit in administration. (Genesis 1; Leviticus 19:2; Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Isaiah 5:16; 6:1-7; 40:18-30; Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19-20; John 14:6-27; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Galatians 4:4-6; Ephesians 2:13-18) 3. We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ; that He was pre-existent, eternally one with the Father; the only begotten Son of God; that He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, so that two whole and perfect natures, that is to say the Godhead and manhood, are thus united in one Person very God and very man, the God-man; that Jesus was crucified, buried and rose from the dead on the third day with all things appertaining to the perfection of man’s nature; that He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the majesty on high as the Intercessor. (Matthew 1:20-25; 16:15-16; Luke 1:26-35; John 1:1-18; Acts 2:22-36; Romans 8:3, 32-34; Galatians 4:4-5; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:12-22; 1 Timothy 6:14-16; Hebrews 1:1-5; 7:22-28; 9:24-28; 1 John 1:1-3; 4:2-3, 15) 4. We believe that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins. (Romans 3:23; 2 Corinthians 2:9-10) 5. We believe that being estranged from God and condemned by our sinfulness, our salvation is wholly dependent upon the work of God’s free grace. God credits His righteousness to those who put their faith in the blood of Christ’s sacrifice alone for their salvation, and thereby justifies them in His sight. Only such as are born again of the Holy Spirit and receive Jesus Christ become children of God and heirs of eternal life. (Ephesians 2:1-9; Romans 3:21-26; John 1:12; 3:3; 1 John 5:11, 12) 6. We believe and practice two ordinances: Water Baptism by immersion after repenting of one’s sins and receiving Christ’s gift of salvation; and Holy Communion as a symbolic remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death for our salvation. 7. We believe biblical holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people. (John 8:11; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 12:14; Romans 12:1; 1 Corinthians 7:1; James 4:4) 8. We believe the true Church is composed of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit are united together in the Body of Christ. The Church finds her visible, yet imperfect, expression in the local congregations where the Word of God is preached in its purity and its ordinances are administered in their integrity; where scriptural discipline is practiced, and where loving fellowship is maintained. For her perfecting, she awaits the return of her Lord. (1 Corinthians 12:13; 1:2; Galatians 1:2; 6:1,2; 1 Thessalonians 1:1; 2 Timothy 2:2-4; Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Ephesians 4:3; Revelation 21:2) 9. We believe the Lord Jesus Christ commands all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to make disciples of all nations. Obedience to the Great Commission requires total commitment to “Him who loved us and gave Himself for us.” He calls us to a life of self-denying love and service. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10) (Matthew 28:18-20; Galatians 2:20; Romans 12:1,2) 10. We believe in the premillenial second coming of Jesus: first to catch away the living saints to Him in the air; second, to reign on the earth a thousand years. 11. We believe in the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked. |
